Volunteering
At HWDSB, we truly value the important role volunteers play in our schools. Your time, care, and commitment enrich our students’ learning experiences and help strengthen the connection between our schools and the broader community.
Volunteers often work directly with students and may assist with activities where safety, guidance, and supervision are required.
All HWDSB volunteers are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) every three years. In the years between screenings, volunteers must sign an annual offence declaration. These steps help us ensure that everyone in our buildings remains safe and reflect our shared commitment to protecting students.
We understand that the cost of completing a Vulnerable Sector Screening can be a barrier for some volunteers. If this is a concern, please connect with us—we’re here to support you.
We warmly welcome and encourage volunteers in our schools. Your involvement models caring, responsibility, and community citizenship for our students.
If you have any questions about volunteering, please connect with us. We’re grateful for your interest in supporting our school community.
